James Jacobson
James Jacobson started a lifelong fascination with food while watching his grandmother cook. His grandmother was born in Germany and trained to be the perfect hostess and a master of French cuisine, her food was simply splendid. She would not write her recipes down, but she allowed James to take notes. He still consults his childhood recipe collection for dinner ideas. Much later when James started his business and marketing consultancy, he took on several Washington, DC-area restaurants as clients. A world traveler, he has eaten at the best restaurants in countless cities. His knowledge of food springs from his culinary adventures, training at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, and taking classes with Mother Theresa’s personal chef. Between 1990 and 2003 he traveled between Maui and DC every few weeks (72 trips in all), affording him plenty of time to eat at every restaurant on Maui. In 2003 he moved to Maui full time, where he remains obsessed with food.
